The mad bomber is back! He's atop the city buildings, laying waste to the streets below with his deadly bombs. The Top Cop on the force has been brought forward to catch the bombs and foil the bomber.

That Cop is you!

Catch the falling bombs in your bomb squad buckets and show the Department what you're made of! The Air Unit will drop you special powerup weapons to help aid in your battle against the bomber.

How To Play

Kablooey Redux is a fast, arcade action game - it isn't overly brain surgery. You control three bombsquad buckets on the bottom of the screen. The bandit at the top of the screen drops bombs (progressively more and faster) which you must defuse by catching them with your bucket. Once you have caught enough bombs, you go on to the next level.

Miss a bomb? You'll lose a precious bomb squad bucket. Lose them all - and you'll be booted from the Police force and lose that gold watch!

As you play, a police helicopter will fly by and drop you a random powerup. Catching the powerup will invoke the noted weapon on the capsule. See Powerups below.

Powerups

Powerup help give you the edge against the bomber. Every level, a police helicopter will fly by randomly and drop a random powerup capsule. You must catch the capsule with one of your buckets. Upon catching, you are awarded the powerup. Some powerups last only a few moments. Others last only the current level. Finally, a powerup could be permanent.

Before you battle the bomber, check out your weapon arsenal:

Mag Pull
Magnetizes your buckets and draws all the bombs to your bucket! Good for one level.

Big Buckets
Double the size of your buckets. Good until you get another powerup, lose a bucket, or spawn a bucket.

Detonator *
Detonates all the bombs on the screen. A single use powerup. Detonated bombs are worth big points!

Extra Bucket
Gives you an extra bucket in reserve. Use your right mouse button to call it into service anytime!

Slow Bombs *
Slow them droppin' babies down a bit - gives you a quick breather. Good for one level.

Split Buckets *
Your second bucket mirrors your moves to cover more ground. Good for one level.

Super Points *
Time to improve your Top Cop rating. Grab this powerup for an instant 100-1000 point bonus!

Big Bombs *
Doubles the size of the bombs to make your catching ability a little less important. Good for one level.

Shield
Raises a rotating dual layer shield that will destroy (at 25 points a pop) dropping bombs. Good for one level.

Freeze Bomber *
Stuns the bomber for 3 seconds. A timer appears next to him to show how long you have to rest.

Game Modes

MODERN MODE (Default)

The moment you miss a bomb, you lose a paddle and the level continues. You must have lightning fast reflexes to recover from the loss of a bomb. This is the 'faster, harder, more challenging' version of the game. In this mode, you will spawn your extra buckets with the right mouse button during play. During Modern Mode play features dropping powerups and bonus games.

CLASSIC MODE (Registered Version Only)

When you miss a bomb, all the bombs on the screen blow up, the level is restarted, and you must face the level again with one less bucket. This is the 'traditional' KABOOM! style of play. You don't have to have fast reflexes to recover from the lost bomb. However, in Classic Mode, there are no powerups or bonus levels. It is strictly old school. You get an extra bucket every 5 levels.

Options

The game has several options you may choose from. In addition to playing the game CLASSIC or MODERN, you can select how loud the music is during gameplay and if you would like to allow your scores to be posted to our web-based internet scoreboard. These options are saved automatically and will be the same next time you play. If you choose Internet Posting to be allowed, please make sure you are connected to the internet before playing. Unpredictable results may occur if you are not online when you try to submit.

Note: You can navigate all the menus with the mouse + wheel + buttons or arrow keys + Enter.

High Scores

If you are good enough and beat a score on the high score table, you will be allowed to enter your initials. Use the mouse (left and right) or mousewheel to select a letter, then press the left mouse button to enter the initial. You are allowed three letters. You can RUB (erase the current letter) with the right mouse button.

The high scores are permanent and will be available from game to game. The high score screen is presented every 5 seconds at the main menu if you don't press any key. You can abort the viewing and jump right back to the menu with any key or mouse click.

If you have elected to post your score to the internet, the game will then attempt to connect to our servers and add your score to our database. You will immediately be given your position on the scoreboard, right in the game.

You must place on your local scoreboard in order to be considered for the world scoreboard.

To view all the scores, visit the Kablooey Redux website.

About

A little info screen about the game. I'd appreciate you viewing it at least once. You can return to the main menu with any key or mouse click.

Scoring

Bombs are worth the same number of points as the level you are on. If you are on Level 5, the bombs are worth 5 points apiece, for example.

However, its worth pointing out that each bucket is worth progressively more points to catch bombs. The top bucket is worth 1x the score (so Level 5 bombs caught with the top bucket are worth 5 points). The middle bucket is worth 2x score (Level 5 bombs are worth 10 points when caught with the middle bucket), and the bottom bucket is worth 3x the score (do the math).

Every 5 levels you are awarded an extra bucket.

Note that some powerups can make the the bombs worth MORE (see Powerups).

Strategies

Like I said, this isn't brain surgery. You won't need a flight manual to figure this game out. Suffice to say:

- Use the first couple of slower levels to utilize the bottom bucket as much as possible.

- Be selective with the powerups you catch. Remember, many powerups will cancel out existing ones.

- Don't wait until you're down to one bucket to spawn another one. Try to keep two buckets on the screen at all times.

- Split Bucket isn't horrible - just keep your eyes on the top one.
